US and UK engine build periods – a history lesson
19 August 2010
IN Mike Dyson’s excellent road test of the Case 65 steam traction engine (OG 246) I was astounded to note in his opening remarks that “traction engine production in the US was compressed into a very short period...” This is certainly not the case at all.
Another Royal Navy steamerster

I WAS very interested to read the article on the National Navy Museum’s Steam Pinnace ‘No 199’ which has been beautifully restored to full working order (OG 246).
Two Fowlers make a pair
15 July 2010.
I WAS intrigued by the item in Vintageworld (OG 242) regarding the ploughing engine discovery in Western Australia.
'Secret' visit to Isle of Man
15 July 2010.
I REFER to OG 245 and the news of the visitation of 34 restored commercial vehicles to the Isle of Man in May.
Remembering Bob on the buses
17 June 2010.
IT WAS interesting to see the picture of Bob Hollamby in front of Garrett tractor No 33705 (BJ 4788) which appeared on page 43 of OG 243. The tractor was new to Stone Court Brick & Tile Co at nearby Pembury but passed to High Brooms in 1925.
Macclesfield Sentinel waggon
20 May 2010.
I AM currently restoring a Foden traction engine that used to work in Tasmania but I enclose a photo of a Sentinel steam waggon which may be of interest to readers.
